Hi my name is Jesús Betancourt. I was born in the South Bronx, New York, but grew up mostly in a small rural community in Puerto Rico surrounded by family. Currently, I am working mostly as an English and Business college instructor. I teach or have taught Conversational English, Business English, Writing, Reading, Financial Accounting, Business Math, Managerial Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Spanish. I have a master’s degree in Education (M. Ed) in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Fordham University in New York. I also have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (I no longer practice) and a Master Trainer designation from the U.S. government. I have also done computer programming in several computer languages (JavaScript, PHP, and Swift) and ghostwriting for people in the business world. I have also collaborated with my oldest son in writing a young adult fantasy novel. He got most of the credit, but I don’t mind. I love him.
Previously, I worked as a Chief Officer and program manager for a federal law enforcement agency, a business reporter for a regional newspaper, an I.R.S. tax auditor, and a part-time college instructor at several universities. In my spare time, I enjoy long walks in the world’s major cities, body weight exercises, international cinema, watching boxing events, studying languages, visiting museums, and dancing Salsa.
